The parliamentary finance committee on Sunday denied what some media outlets were discussing on the allocation of an item in the federal budget that includes the costs of the US presence in Iraq.
"There is no provision for the allocation of funds to US forces in the budget," committee member Ahmed Hama told the Journal News.
The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported on Saturday that the United States had asked the Iraqi government to pay for its military presence in Iraq. The Iraqi government also included an item in the budget that includes the allocation of funds to US troops stationed in Iraq.
