(Reuters) - The Iraqi government may have to pick up some foreign motives from Syria, the parliamentary security and defense committee predicted on Wednesday.

"The Iraqi government feels the international pressure to hand over Baghdad to Syria's foreign and other sympathizers," said Mohammad Reza, a member of the committee, who told Asharq Al-Awsat news agency that "the elements of the organization calling on those who have been handed over to Iraq so far are less than 300 people, including some foreigners."

"Baghdad may be forced to take over the arms from Syria because these countries are refusing to hand them over. If Iraq refuses, there could be confrontation with al-Qaeda or some infiltration into Iraqi territory."

"The government believes that they are officially being held and detained better than they pose a threat and a threat to Iraqi security," he said.
