President discusses with leaders of 5 European countries reconstruction of Iraq to expand relations

[rtl]President Barham Salih met with five European leaders at dawn on Tuesday on ways to rebuild Iraq, expand bilateral relations, as well as consolidate peace and stability in the Middle East, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.[/rtl]





[rtl]Saleh met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and discussed with them ways to upgrade relations between the two countries in all fields to achieve the aspirations of the two friendly peoples, and the role of the European Union in assisting Iraq for reconstruction, Strengthen the capabilities of the Iraqi security forces with armament and training.[/rtl]



[rtl]The two sides reviewed the developments on the regional and international arenas, stressing the importance of dialogue between all parties to achieve peace and stability in the region.[/rtl]



[rtl]He pointed out that the President of the Republic also met with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and stressed "the need to intensify the efforts of everyone to establish security and peace in the region to enjoy the stability and prosperity of its people."[/rtl]



[rtl]They also discussed developments in the current situation, and stressed the need to adopt dialogue to ease tensions regionally and internationally.[/rtl]



[rtl]The press office that Saleh "met with French President Emmanuel Macron, and stressed the desire of Iraq to build fruitful and wide relations with France in various fields, and expand the horizons of cooperation and joint coordination and to serve the mutual interests of the two friendly countries."[/rtl]



[rtl]The two sides discussed "regional and international developments and the need to adopt dialogues and understandings to resolve all outstanding problems between all parties in order to prevail peace and stability in the region."[/rtl]



[rtl]He said that a meeting was held between the President of the Republic and his counterpart Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, and discussed bilateral relations and ways to upgrade them, the importance of expanding the horizons of cooperation, to achieve the mutual interests of the two friendly countries, and reviewed the political and security situations and developments at the regional and international levels.[/rtl]



[rtl]He concluded that Saleh also met with his Bulgarian counterpart Roman Radev and discussed with him the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing joint cooperation to achieve the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.[/rtl]
