    Baghdad / news
The head of the Jordanian Businessmen Association, Hamdi Al-Tabaa, affirmed that Iraqi investments in Jordan amounted to 18 billion dollars.
A statement on the association stated that "Al-Tabaa 'and the members of the Council discussed yesterday with the Iraqi ambassador to the Kingdom Haider Al-Adhari ways to enhance the economic relations of the two countries and the role that the private sector can play in this regard."
He pointed out that "the two sides agreed to define the problems and obstacles facing the private sector in both countries, especially with regard to land transport of goods and find appropriate solutions to them, and to enhance bilateral relations in various fields by intensifying periodic meetings."
The two sides stressed, according to the statement, "The Jordanian role in the reconstruction of Iraq, especially with regard to the reopening of factories that were closed due to political conditions and what this contributes to finding new job opportunities in addition to following up the implementation of the project to extend the oil pipeline."
According to the statement, Al-Tabbaa emphasized that "the private sector relations between the two sides are constantly developing, especially as Iraqi businessmen and investors in Jordan enjoy great interest, noting that Iraq is one of the most important countries investing in the Kingdom in various sectors."
He pointed out that "Iraqi investments in Jordan amount to approximately $ 18 billion distributed among the sectors of tourism, real estate, finance and food industries," noting that "the association always seeks towards establishing real Jordanian-Iraqi partnerships, especially in sectors of mutual interest between the two countries."
He stressed that "the Iraqi market is one of the most important traditional markets for Jordanian exports," stressing "the importance of exchanging experiences in the fields of energy, renewable energy, health care and contracting, and facilitating the granting of visas to businessmen."
Al-Tabba 'stated that "The Jordanian Businessmen Association is associated with a number of Iraqi economic actors with joint business councils, including with the Iraqi Businessmen Association where a joint Iraqi-Iraqi Business Council was established in 2003."
He pointed out, "The association is also linked to a memorandum of understanding with the Iraqi National Business Council since 2011, which reflects the association's unremitting efforts to strengthen bonds of joint cooperation between the two countries in various commercial, economic and investment fields."
And Al-Tabbaa said that "Jordan is still facing difficulties with regard to applying the exemption from customs duties imposed by Iraq on goods exported to it estimated at 30 percent, despite the granting of this exemption to a list of Jordanian goods, but there are difficulties accompanying the implementation of the exemption decision, as well as examining the possibility of increasing the number of Goods subject to this exemption. "
Al-Adhari praised the depth of "historical, commercial and economic relations between the two countries," noting that "the Iraqi private sector is looking with great interest towards strengthening bilateral cooperation with Jordan, especially in light of the many investment opportunities available."
He stressed that "the embassy offers all forms of cooperation in order to enhance bilateral relations between the business communities of both sides," stressing "the role of the private sector and businessmen in developing those relations."
It is noteworthy that the trade exchange between Jordan and Iraq reached about 706 million dollars last year, which formed Jordanian exports, of which 704 million dollars were concentrated in the pharmaceutical industries, machinery, electrical equipment, plastic and paper.
