Iraqis refuse to nominate Allawi, Tehran .. and demand international protection from pro-Iranian militias

The demonstrators in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] rejected the reports that indicated earlier that there was agreement on the name of Muhammad Allawi - "Walkers and Conquest" candidate - to head the government, two months after the resignation of Adel Abdul Mahdi.
The city of Karbala witnessed the departure of a number of demonstrators, who chanted against Hadi al-Amiri, head of the Fatah Alliance in the House of Representatives and leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, describing the two men as "the tails of Iran."
Concurrently, Baghdad witnessed a renewal of clashes between demonstrators and security forces in the Al-Khulani and Al-Wathba areas.
The Iraqi security forces shot the live demonstrators directly and deliberately, and a protester was wounded by a smoke grenade at close range.
In addition, the demonstrators demanded the United Nations to intervene to protect them from violence against them.

In turn, protesters in Diwaniyah raised banners at the Square Thursday, calling for the United Nations and the European Union to intervene to save Iraq.
Delegates from 16 countries in Iraq, including France, Britain and the United States, have condemned the use of excessive force by security forces and armed groups, and called for a meaningful investigation into the deaths of hundreds since October.
The delegates said in a joint statement: "Despite the government's assurances, the security forces and armed groups continue to use live ammunition in these places (Baghdad, Nasiriyah and Basra), which leads to several deaths and civilian casualties, while some protesters face intimidation and kidnapping."
Delegates called on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to respect freedom of assembly and the right to peaceful protest, and they appealed to the Baghdad government to "ensure credible investigations and accountability for the deaths of more than 500 and thousands of injured protesters since October 1".
While the United Nations has warned the Iraqi authorities that its continued use of lethal force against demonstrators will worsen the country's situation.
