    Supporters of Sadrist leader Moqtada al-Sadr shot at protesters in Najaf on Monday, a Sky News Arabic correspondent in Iraq reported.

    The Sadrist leader called on his supporters to help security forces open roads that have been closed for months of sit-ins and protests, and demanded that daily life return to normal, after Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi was appointed prime minister.

    For his part, the iraqi prime minister-designate called on the demonstrators to withdraw the conflict and differences, and that those he described as corrupt should not have the opportunity to turn back the clock.

    In remarks on Twitter, Allawi denied his choice of parties 
    Political, stressing that independent deputies nominated him to head the government.

    Protests continued in Baghdad and a number of southern cities on Sunday, protesting Allawi's mandate to form a government, and sadrist supporters' attempt to clear the sit-in sit-in sit-in sit-in sit-ins, prompting protesters to accuse them of "working for Iran."
