[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring at the Ministry of Transport issued the monthly report on the bulletin and map of seismic activity in Iraq and the neighboring regions.
The director of the seismic monitoring department, Hassanein Jassim Muhammad, said, according to a statement by the ministry: “The total number of earthquakes recorded in the Iraqi seismic monitoring network for this month is (19), including ten earthquakes inside Iraq, two earthquakes in Syria near the Iraqi-Syrian border, and seven earthquakes inside Iran. And near the border areas of Iraq. "
He explained, "The seismic activity was clearly concentrated in Khanaqin district in Diyala governorate, Kalar district in Sulaymaniyah province, and Amara district in Maysan governorate, in addition to other earthquakes recorded in areas close to and adjacent to Iraq."
The report continued: "It has been observed that the western and southwestern regions of Iraq are free of any seismic activity, and this explains the nature of the movement of the Arab plate and the location of Iraq thereof in the northeastern part and the increase in seismic activity towards the areas of continental collision, specifically towards the north and northeast of Iraq."
It is noteworthy that the total number of reports issued regarding immediate tremors reached (6) reports, and most of these tremors were felt by citizens living near the sites of these tremors, and no human or material losses were recorded. / End 9[/rtl]
