The British ambassador to Baghdad, Stephen Hickey, said today, Thursday, that the rise, which he described as "remarkable" in foreign reserves, at the Central Bank, supports the economic situation in Iraq.
The Central Bank’s media office stated, in a statement received by the National News Center, that “the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Ghaleb Mkhaif, met the UK ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hickey.”
He pointed out that "the meeting dealt with several things, including the noticeable increase in the foreign reserves of the Central Bank of Iraq."
According to the statement, Ambassador Stephen Hickey believed that "the remarkable increase in the foreign reserves of the bank supports the economic situation in Iraq and puts it in a good and stable stage."
The statement added, “On the sidelines of the meeting, the governor and the ambassador visited the new building of the Central Bank designed by the late architect Zaha Hadid. And they were briefed on the stages of development, where the ambassador said that the new Central Bank statement will be a qualitative addition to the capital, Baghdad.
