    {Economist: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Oil announced that it is studying with American companies the possibility of buying Exxon Mobil's share in West Qurna / 1 field in Basra Governorate.

    And local press reports mentioned ExxonMobil's intention to sell its shares in the Basra fields in the south of the country, and abroad, without giving a reason for that.
    In January 2010, ExxonMobil Iraq, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil International, signed an agreement with the South Oil Company of the Iraqi Oil Ministry to rehabilitate and redevelop West Qurna-1 field in southern Iraq.
