{Political: Al Furat News} A member of the Oil, Energy and Natural Resources Committee in the House of Representatives, Ghaleb Muhammad Ali, revealed that Iraq annually burns more than 18 billion cubic meters of gas, stressing that the policies in the country prevented contracting with giant companies to invest gas in the production of electric power.

Committee member Muhammad Ali said in a statement that {Euphrates News} received a copy of it, that “the burning of the associated gas has a negative impact on the environment of Iraq and the increase in cases of cancer in the areas where it is located, in addition to the great waste of money resulting from this case,” adding that “the gas The accompanying production capacity and a huge strategy through which electric power can be generated to meet half of Iraq's needs, but the government and former ministers of the ministries of oil and electricity ruled out thinking about investing this type of gas to restore life to electric power."
