    Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Water Resources revealed its procedures to resolve Iraq's water share with Turkey and Syria, while noting that the downstream countries are the most affected by water scarcity.


    The ministry's spokesman, Ali Radi, said, in an interview carried by the Iraqi News Agency, that "the current water storage in dams and reservoirs is very good and sufficient to secure all obligations of the current summer agricultural season, as well as the first irrigation of the upcoming winter season."






    He added, "A technical team is currently in Turkey to discuss a set of files, most notably the water releases in the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, and the file of the joint protocol between the two countries regarding Iraq's water share of the Tigris River, as well as the joint research center between the two countries," noting that "the team will discuss the issue of water scarcity and lack of The revenues and climatic conditions that ravaged the region and the emphasis on sharing the damage in the conditions of scarcity with the Turkish side.

    Radi confirmed that "a meeting was held a month ago with the Syrian side, and it is hoped that another meeting will be held at the beginning of next July in Baghdad or in Damascus to discuss supplies, given that Syria and Iraq are the two countries benefiting from the Euphrates River jointly with Turkey," noting that "the first meeting It witnessed high coordination between the two sides in order to unify visions and one interest."


    He stressed that "the countries most affected by water scarcity are the downstream countries, so it was decided to hold a second meeting with the Syrian side."
