    The Security and Defense Committee in the House of Representatives confirmed, on Thursday (June 24, 2021), that securing the border strip between Iraq and Syria requires time, due to its prepared nature and length, while revealing that 80% of the Iraqi-Syrian borders are secured.
    A member of the committee, Ayoub Al-Rubaie, said in an exclusive interview with  IQ News , “Multiple positives have been achieved in the past months in the file of securing the Iraqi-Syrian borders through greater reliance on modern technologies in controlling the borders, especially thermal cameras, in addition to redeploying according to an intelligence vision to cut off roads. infiltration from Syria to Iraq.
    Al-Rubaie added, “It can be said that 80% of the Iraqi-Syrian borders are secured, and the evidence is the lack of violations observed,” stressing that “securing the borders is a priority within the framework of national security to ward off the dangers of terrorism, especially since there are areas where ISIS terrorist cells are still active and they are trying to exploit any opportunity. to infiltrate Iraq.
    He pointed out that "securing the entire Syrian border needs some time, especially since it is the most complex in addition to its length of hundreds of kilometers."
    During the past years, during the ISIS control over some Iraqi and Syrian provinces in 2014, until after the liberation 2017, the Iraqi-Syrian border strip constitutes points of security breaches carried out by ISIS elements.
