{Economic: Al Furat News} An economist warned of the repercussions of the continued high population growth in Iraq.
Hassan Riyad said, in a press statement: "Even in the event that global demand for oil continues, and its prices remain high, this means that the Iraqi government will need to pay salaries to six million people to maintain the current situation, and this is simply impossible."
He stressed that "it is too late to talk about diversifying the economy and establishing agricultural or economic infrastructure, because the crisis has already occurred."
