The Ministry of Planning and Development Cooperation said on Saturday that Iraq's population estimates for 2017 indicate more than 37 million people, while the population growth in Iraq is still high at previous rates.
"Population estimates in Iraq for 2017 indicate there are 37,139,519 people," the ministry's Central Bureau of Statistics said in a statement. "The population growth rate is still high at 2.61."
He added that "the ratio of male to female at birth was 103.9", pointing out that "the total fertility rate of child per woman of childbearing age 15 - 49 years was 3.96".
"The average age of males in Iraq is 71.5 years, while the average age of females is 75.4 years," the agency said, noting that "the crude birth rate per 1000 population is 30.1".
