    {Local: Al Furat News} The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, stressed, during his meeting with the Minister of Water Resources, that the water file is based on national security, and the need to secure Iraq's water share and provide the agricultural need for water.
    A statement issued by Saleh's media office, of which {Euphrates News} received a copy, stated that "the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received the Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid, where they discussed the water situation in the country and the low levels of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and Iraq's water share and supplies."
    And Saleh indicated, according to the statement, that "the water file is a cornerstone of Iraqi national security, and this calls for giving it a top priority at the national level in light of the severe climatic changes facing the country, the region and the world as a whole," stressing "the need to communicate with neighboring countries to organize water relations in accordance with the principles of good neighborliness." Taking into account the common interests of all, and not harming Iraq,” he said, referring to the efforts made by the government and the Ministry of Water Resources in this regard.
    The President of the Republic stressed, "the necessity of maintaining dams, protecting water bodies and marshes, and the importance of securing irrigation requirements for farmers and farmers throughout the country, benefiting from international expertise in the field of irrigation and sustainable water management, and facing the crises of desertification and drought."
    The statement added, "The Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid, for his part, presented a review of the ministry's plans in the water file and facing the challenges surrounding it, in addition to the ongoing dialogues with neighboring countries regarding Iraq's water share."
