On Tuesday, Nahda al-Dayni, a member of the parliamentary foreign relations committee, called for a long-term international charter that guarantees Iraq's economic rights with neighboring countries and preserves security sovereignty at the Baghdad summit to be held at the end of this month.

"The Baghdad summit should be a door to Iraq's exit from the cloaks of security interventions, external domination of the local economy, control and conduct of the private sector in accordance with the interests of neighboring countries," al-Dayni told Shafq News, stressing that "the inclusion of the territorial water file, the conclusion of a long-term agreement guaranteeing Iraq's water rights on coastal rivers, sharing drought damage and water scarcity in accordance with international norms."

Al-Dayni called on the Iraqi government and the countries participating in the conference to "save Iraq and remove it from the control of foreign security interventions and violations of sovereignty in several border areas and to oblige neighbouring countries to participate in the fight against terrorism and prevent the infiltration of terrorist groups in order to preserve common international interests."

He expressed the hope that "the Baghdad summit will be a new page of strong relations with neighboring countries to ensure Iraq's interests and to lift it out of the economic and political problems accumulated for many years."

Iraq is preparing to hold a summit in Baghdad later this month with the participation of neighboring countries and a number of major countries to discuss and address security and economic problems.
