Gold prices fell by 1.2%, as the attractiveness of the precious metal as a safe investment haven was affected by the rise in US Treasury bond yields and the rise in the dollar.
And gold fell in immediate transactions 0.4 percent, to settle at 1762.19 dollars an ounce, in the late trading session of the American market, its first decline in four sessions.
And US gold futures fell 0.25 percent, to settle at $1,763.20 an ounce.
The bullish moves of the dollar and bond yields, after a slight dip in the past few days, and the recovery of the stock market are pushing gold lower, said David Meijer, director of metals trading at High Ridge Futures.
And the US dollar rose close to its highest level in a year, which it recorded last week, against a basket of its competitors, which makes gold more expensive for holders of other currencies. Ended 29/A4
