The Ministry of Defense discussed, on Tuesday, with NATO the training plan for the year 2021.
A ministry statement stated, "To increase the prospects for cooperation in the field of training and coordination between the Ministries of Defense and the Peshmerga with the Office of Security Cooperation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), it was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense. Defense Coordination meeting chaired by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense Lieutenant-General Raad Hashem Al-Taie with the NATO Cooperation Office and in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Peshmerga Lieutenant-General Jabbar Yawar and the representative of the Kurdistan Region in Baghdad Faris Issa.
The statement added, "During which they discussed the development of joint work, the training plan for the next year, the courses that will be opened for the Iraqi armed forces for the next year, and their importance in developing training through a complete vision of an annual curriculum, an indication of the quality of courses, the selection of candidates, and the development of a new mechanism to help speed up the application process for candidates and their entry into courses." Pointing out that "this meeting comes within a series of meetings held by the Ministry of Defense with NATO in order to continue support in the field of training and developing capabilities for the Iraqi forces."
