, the Ministry of Commerce announced, on Tuesday, its commitment to preparing the entire food basket items and preparing the two portions of the blessed month of Ramadan.
The ministry said in a statement on behalf of the official spokesman for the trade, Muhammad Hanoun, that the rise in food prices during the past three days was known due to the crisis of conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
And the statement continued, that the decision of the Council of Ministers today will be a major turning point in securing the items of the ration basket and providing strategic storage for wheat, stressing that the launch of the food basket quota has begun in all Iraqi governorates and there are supervisory teams following the implementation mechanisms.
He added, that the quota of flour was released to all private and governmental mills.
The statement indicated that the price hike crisis requires citizens' cooperation and awareness and not to believe malicious rumors, some of which stem from purely political goals, noting that the Iraqi government has taken a number of decisions that will contribute to reducing prices for foodstuffs and establishing a parallel line to the local market by supporting the ration card items. Providing strategic reserves of wheat amounting to 3 million of this material, as well as a segment of farmers by raising the price of local wheat during the marketing season, as well as completing the file of dues to farmers within 10 days.
The statement noted that the crisis cell in the ministry has begun to move widely in all governorates to supervise in a field-wide manner the preparation of the ration items in all governorates and to form joint teams with local governments and heads of administrative units in districts and sub-districts, all the way to Qasaba and to the farthest point in all governorates.
The ministry reassured the citizens by importing large quantities of wheat, pumping large quantities of materials through the food basket, and contracting the private sector through the investing company on all the materials included in the food basket. Ended 29/R77
