Biden sends a letter to Nechirvan Barzani confirming his support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region
Shafaq News/ The President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, received today, Wednesday, a message from the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, in which he affirmed the support of Iraq and the region.
President Nechirvan Barzani met today with Matthew Tueller, the US ambassador to Iraq, according to a statement issued by the Kurdistan Region Presidency.
During a meeting, the US ambassador delivered a message from US President Joe Biden to President Nechirvan Barzani, in which he affirmed the US support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The statement stated that "the two sides discussed the Iraqi political situation, the steps of the political process and the sessions of the Iraqi parliament, the conditions of the Kurdistan Region and the upcoming elections process in the Kurdistan Region, Erbil-Baghdad relations and expectations for the future of the political process in the country."
The statement added that the views of the two sides agreed, during their meeting, on the need for a correct system of governance, and that adherence to the constitution and its principles is the only way to achieve security and stability, and stressed the importance of building trust and mutual understanding between the Iraqi parties in order to overcome the situation and solve problems.
