The Secretary-General of the National Producer and Agricultural Advisor to the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jassem Al-Amiri confirmed today, Thursday, that the local product is able to cover the market needs in many products in the event that imports from the Turkish side are stopped.
Al-Amiri said in an interview with the "National News Center", that "in light of the recent repercussions and the transgression of Iraqi sovereignty, it has become imperative for Iraq to respond by all means to the repeated attacks from the Turkish side, and one of these means is to cut economic relations."
He added that "the local product is able to cover the market's needs, especially in food security items such as eggs, chicken and vegetables, provided that there is full and continuous support for the Iraqi farmer and the enactment of laws to protect the national product."
He continued that: "Iraq today has an important economic power in the global market, and we can change the sources of importing some materials that the market needs amid the absence and almost complete cessation of Iraqi factories, and we have a complete vision and immediate and future plans to address this file if we are asked."
