Baghdad Trade: The import ban policy is wrong and the local product does not cover more than 15%
Shafaq News/ The Baghdad Chamber of Commerce confirmed, on Tuesday, that the import ban policy is wrong, indicating that the local product does not cover more than 15 percent.
The head of the Chamber, Firas Al-Hamdani, said in an interview with Shafaq News Agency, "The Iraqi government knows what the merchant needs and is aware of the country's economic situation, given that the country is a consumer and a non-producer," noting that "the restrictions placed on the import process are not complicated."
He added, "The ban on importing some products is what creates great confusion and imbalance in the entry of goods to local markets, and therefore everything that is forbidden is incorrect and wrong and has no benefit or benefit, whether for the citizen or the merchant," noting that the market in Iraq is an open market and a free economy. Al-Hamdani pointed out that "Iraq suffers from a lack of local production, and the Ministry of Planning reports confirm that the local product does not cover more than 10 to 15 percent of the local market's need," noting that "the product support policy is applied whenever the product covers between 60 To 70 percent, not to impose a ban, and there is an urgent need for goods and materials for which there is no sufficiency."
Yesterday, Monday, the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce called on citizens and traders to demonstrate today in front of the Ministry of Agriculture headquarters to dismiss its minister after claiming government policies and wrong decisions that led us to an inevitable hunger, before canceling this demonstration returns until further notice.
