[size=45]During his current visit to the Kurdistan Region, an official meeting took place between Christopher Castillo, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Iraq, in the presence of Falah Anwar, Consul General of the Republic of the Philippines in the Kurdistan Region, with a delegation from the Reporters Organization for Rights and Development .[/size]
[size=45]During the meeting, it was stressed the joint cooperation and coordination between the two sides in issues related to developing and building the capacities of journalists, as well as discussing freedom of expression and protecting and defending press freedom in all regions of Iraq and issuing a joint report on the rights of journalists and violations against freedom of expression in Iraq.[/size]
[size=45]The Philippine ambassador, Christopher Castillo, also praised the role of the Reporters Organization, in protecting the rights of journalists, developing their skills, and defending freedom of expression , and the two sides agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding to build capacities and develop journalists and support a free press .[/size]
[size=45]In another aspect of the meeting, Christopher Castillo stressed that the current President of the Republic of the Philippines, Punjabong Marcos, attaches great importance to issues of human rights and freedom of expression and is trying to promote human rights at the regional and international levels .[/size]
