Jade Iran, a website specialized in Iranian affairs, reported on Thursday, quoting Iraqi and Iranian sources, that intensive meetings were held between the leaders of the Sadrist movement and the Lebanese Hezbollah in Beirut as “the only link between the leader of the movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, and Tehran.”
The site quotes its sources as saying that communication between al-Sadr and Iran takes place through Hezbollah's representative in Iraq, Muhammad Kawtharani, after direct communication between the two parties was interrupted.
He added, “The meetings witnessed a discussion between the two parties regarding the developments of the Iraqi political scene since before the formation of the current Iraqi government and the subsequent repercussions, in addition to the possible scenarios during the next stage.
The source of the Iraqi “Iran Jade” said, “Communication between the Sadrist movement and the Iranians is cut off, and the situation is the same between the movement and other Iraqi Shiite parties.”
He added, "The commander of the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guard, Ismail Qaani, was in Baghdad two days ago, and no date was set for him to meet with al-Sadr.
