Shafaq News/ The Parliamentary Agriculture and Water Committee attributed, on Saturday, the reason for the increase in the price of table eggs to seven thousand dinars per layer, to the closure of thousands of poultry projects.

Committee member Ibtisam al-Hilali told Shafaq News agency, "The wrong decisions of the previous government caused the closure of four thousand poultry projects in all Iraqi governorates except for the Kurdistan Region, after Iraq had more than six thousand poultry projects in 2019."
She added, "The previous government's wrong policy of opening the door to imports and not protecting the local product and supporting projects negatively affected local poultry projects, and thousands of workers were laid off and billions of dinars were lost."
And Al-Hilali indicated, "The Ministry of Agriculture is required today to follow up on the issue and support poultry projects, and that any increase in prices affects citizens directly."
