    The Ministries of Oil, Electricity and Environment confirmed, on Monday, the government's endeavor to increase energy production and commitment to reducing emissions according to timetables, while the Presidency of Parliament stressed the importance of investing in gas resources and finding a new financial source as an alternative to oil.

    "Iraq needs to reduce dependence on oil in financing the operating budget and find real alternatives to diversify sources of income," he said, adding that "oil is of great importance." In the present and future of Iraq, we must strive to develop this wealth in industry and production."
    He continued, "The gas wealth is still lost without investing it, which requires a serious pause and start investing it to become a substitute for oil," pointing out that "the oil export sector has witnessed remarkable development with Iraq's endeavor to restore its position in the producing exporting countries."
    He stressed the necessity of striving to "build new refineries and develop the existing ones in achieving self-sufficiency, operating power plants and securing what the private industrial sector needs," noting that "everyone is invited to work to develop the oil sector from all ministries and the private sector."
    He called on the political forces to "sit down to solve problems in the energy sector and legislate the oil and gas law and the accompanying problems between the region and Baghdad," noting that Parliament "supports the legislation of the law and providing a solid environment for the development of the oil sector."

    In turn, Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani said in his speech during the conference that "the ministry has taken it upon itself to develop the production process in oil and gas, and we have a plan to increase our production capacity in line with Iraq's market position in the world," stressing, "We have a plan to invest all the gas that is burned during the years In the next four years, there will be no gas breach, and tangible results will be achieved during the first year of this government, particularly in some fields in the south."
    For his part, Chairman of the Oil and Gas Committee in Parliament, Yahya Al-Ithawi, said in his speech during the conference, "The associated gas that burns affects the population directly, and there are many diseases that have occurred, especially in the areas of oil fields, and we, as the Oil and Gas Committee, must pay attention to this issue."
    He added, "Iraq imports more than 60% of oil derivatives, and we hope that the Ministry of Oil will enter the private sector and investors in building refineries, given the derivatives are imported from the public treasury," pledging to "proceed with legislating important laws in the field of investment, oil and all fields of energy, and we strongly assist in entering oil sector".
    He pointed to "the lack of oil tankers in Iraq, and the plans of the Ministry of Oil to pay attention to this file," calling on the government to "devise a plan to invest the Iraqi oil reserves."

    In addition, Minister of Environment Nizar Muhammad Saeed explained in his speech at the conference that "the Iraqi government has adopted initiatives to shift towards clean energies and develop infrastructure for the oil sector, especially with regard to the development of associated gas, as Iraq benefits $ 2.5 billion and reduces emissions by 14%."
    He added, "Iraq is committed not to burning gas, starting from the year 2030, as its production of clean energy will be 12 megawatts," noting that "the government seeks to integrate the Iraqi private sector with green economy transformation projects."

    The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Adel Karim, said in his speech at the conference that "the energy sector is one of the most influential sectors in the world," noting that "electricity needs financial allocations and bridging the gap with demand to provide electricity around the clock."
    He referred to the government's plans to "raise the efficiency of power plants from the simple to the complex level and add 9,000 megawatts to the national system," stressing that "the ministry plans to increase renewable energy projects with a capacity of 7 gigawatts, and a contract has been made to produce 3.5 gigawatts."
