Shafaq News / Munther Hawarat, a member of the Board of Directors of the Jordanian International Affairs Association, spoke on Tuesday about the most important things that were emphasized in the Baghdad 2 conference, which was held today in Amman.

Hewarat told Shafaq News agency, "This conference comes as an affirmation that the three countries (Iraq, Egypt, Jordan) are fully committed to what they agreed upon in the past, and that they do not leave an opportunity to prevent continuing to emphasize the steps previously agreed upon in the infrastructure projects." Infrastructure, economic and political, and what was called at the time the New Levant Project.

He added, "This meeting also confirms the continuation of the three countries' tendency to work together to ripen the agreements and make them implementable," pointing out that "the process of cooperation between the three countries is deepening every day, and goes towards being translated on the ground, as evidenced by this intimacy in dealing and cooperation between these countries."

Today, Tuesday, a tripartite meeting was held at the King Hussein Center in the Dead Sea, including Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, King Abdullah II bin al-Hussein of Jordan, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, on the sidelines of their attendance at the Second Baghdad Summit for Cooperation and Partnership, which Jordan is hosting.

During the meeting, the three leaders discussed, which is the first of its kind for the leaders of the three countries that are linked to a higher council for cooperation, in the presence of Al-Sudani, aspects of cooperation and integration, strengthening partnership between Iraq, Jordan and Egypt, and ways to activate economic cooperation in various fields.

The leaders of the three countries stressed the importance of the interdependence of infrastructure with Arab countries and the strengthening of mutual investments, in a way that supports the ability to compete in global markets and confront the current challenges in the global economy.

It is noteworthy that the three countries are associated with a coordinating council for joint cooperation to develop their political, security, economic, trade and energy relations.

The council held three summits in Amman, Cairo and Baghdad, during which a joint ministerial coordinating council was formed that works to expand the various strategic partnerships and take advantage of the potential offered by the geographical contiguity of the three countries and the complementarity of interests between them.

And that is through eight committees for transport, investment, reconstruction, energy and industry, as well as for finance and banking, in addition to the political and security committees, the education and youth committee, the cultural and media committee, and the agricultural committee.

It is noteworthy that the Baghdad 2 conference in Amman was held today with the participation of 7 Arab countries, in addition to Turkey and Iran, and representatives of several regional and international organizations.

The first Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership was held in Baghdad on August 28, 2021, and 10 Arab and foreign countries participated in it, in addition to several regional and international organizations.
