Shafaq News/ The Turkish consul in Erbil, Muhammad Mouloud Yaqut, announced on Thursday that the Kurdistan Regional Government and its people were the fastest and first to respond to the international relief appeal launched by his country due to the devastating earthquake that it was exposed to, which resulted in the death and injury of more than 150,000 citizens.
This came in a joint press conference held by Yaqoot with the head of the Barzani Charity Foundation, Musa Ahmed, in the city of Erbil.

The Turkish consul said that his country was subjected to major and tragic disasters, as a result of which more than 43,000 citizens died and more than 108,000 people were injured.
He added that more than 100 countries extended a helping hand to Turkey, pointing out that the fastest and first to respond to the relief appeal launched by his country was the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government and its people.
Yaqut expressed his thanks to the Barzani Charitable Foundation for the assistance it provided, whether by sending rescue teams or relief aid, noting that the Foundation continues its work in this aspect, and we are ready to provide all facilities for them.
In turn, the head of the Barzani Charitable Foundation, Musa Ahmed, said during the same conference that the foundation teams, in partnership with relief teams from the Ministry of Health and Interior in the region, and with a group of companies, as well as the Iraqi Red Crescent Organization, contributed with assistance as a duty entrusted to us in providing services to those affected by the earthquake.
He explained that the Foundation's work was divided into three phases, the first: including the delivery of urgent aid. Our teams have completed this phase, and are currently in the process of providing shelter for the affected people, whether in tents or caravans, expressing the Foundation's desire to participate in the construction phase according to the capabilities available to it.
Ahmed called on the Turkish government to continue cooperation with the Foundation in order to deliver more aid to Afrin and Jandris in Syria due to the damage and destruction that the two cities were subjected to and the deterioration of the economic conditions of its residents.
