    Kurdistan Regional Presidency spokesman Dilshad Shihab announced on Tuesday that President Nechirvan Barzani signed a regional order appointing three judges to the Kurdistan Region Court of Appeal. The official website of the Presidency of the Region quoted Shehab as saying that the President signed today a regional order appointing judges based on Paragraph 16 of Article 10 of the Kurdistan Region-Iraq Presidency Law amended in 2005. Judge Jassim Jaza Jaafar, President of the Court of Appeal in the Sulaymaniyah Region, and Judge Jassim Muhammad Mustafa, Deputy President of the Dohuk District Court of Appeal, and Judge Taher Ali Hassan, Judge of the Sulaymaniyah Court of Appeal.[/size]
    [size=45]The spokesman added that President Nechirvan Barzani, within the framework of concern for the judicial institution, meeting the requirements of the judiciary, and in light of the request of the Kurdistan Regional Judicial Council, signed the appointment of these judges. It was announced that the judges would begin their work in the Kurdistan Region Court of Appeal after the issuance of the regional order and their taking the constitutional oath.[/size]
    [size=45]As for the court, this step comes as part of the region’s efforts to strengthen judicial institutions and improve their performance, and also comes in response to the requirements of the judicial authority and to ensure that individuals and society obtain justice and the right to a fair and speedy trial.[/size]
