    Baghdad today - Kurdistan
A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Idris Shaaban, revealed today, Saturday, that the representatives of the Kurdistan Region adhere to 14% as a benefit for the Kurds in the federal general budget.
Shaaban said in an interview with him (Baghdad Today), that "the region has multiple obligations and accumulated debts, and any attempt to reduce the region's share of the budget, below 14%, is tantamount to a violation of the constitutional rights of the Kurds."
Shaaban added, "The political blocs are trying to rely on population ratios that are not correct, just as Baghdad has cut off sending money from the region since 2014," noting that "the matter is no longer acceptable at all."
The 2023 budget had caused a new crisis between the federal Iraqi government and the Kurdistan region of Iraq with its approval approaching, as it had become a point of contention, in light of Kurdish delegations heading towards Baghdad, which adheres to the constitution to resolve these differences, while the region hopes that political understandings and consensus will result in returning its share. to 17 percent in the new year's budget due to the population density in the region.
Earlier, the leader of the State of Law coalition, Wael Al-Rikabi, stated that "the financial budget law will be approved in the second month of next year, because when it reaches Parliament, it needs a period of not less than 45 days to discuss its paragraphs," stressing that "the share of Kurdistan, contrary to the expectations of some, will remain as it was in the past," noting that "the share will be 12 percent."
