    Today, Saturday, a member of Parliament, Walid Al-Sahlani, denounced the fate of the salary scale amendment law within the 2023 budget, while confirming the existence of many institutions in the country suffering from a sharp decrease in salaries.
    Al-Sahlani said, in a press interview seen by “Takadam”, that “the salary scale file is on the table, but so far the draft budget has not reached the House of Representatives,” noting that “there are ideas that have been put forward regarding an amendment to the salary scale.”
    He added, "Some institutions in the Iraqi state are suffering from a sharp decline in the salary scale, so there must be fairness in distributing salaries in general at the level of government sectors for state employees."
    A member of the House of Representatives explained, “This issue is raised, but the discussion of the issue is in the Council of Ministers, given that it is the executive authorities and is sent to the House of Representatives,” pointing out that “the Finance Committee has the right to discuss the legal materials that will be sent from the Council of Ministers, and it is possible that there will be a change.” Or a simple amendment in some paragraphs of the budget.
    And Al-Sahlani stated, “Modifying the salary scale within the House of Representatives has so far only been proposed, but it has not been touched realistically, and there is no clear vision regarding it,” noting, “We are waiting for the budget to come to the Finance Committee, and the issue of amending the salary scale will be discussed after that.”
    Many state employees suffer from a sharp decline and lack of justice with their peers in other ministries regarding their financial salaries, amid anticipation of the financial budget law for the year 2023 with desires to send it to Parliament for a vote on it.
