    Baghdad today - Baghdad
The leader in the coordination framework, Turki Al-Atbi, confirmed today, Wednesday, that the doubling of the Tigris River supplies from Turkey "will not be limited to 30 days" as set by Ankara.
Al-Atbi told (Baghdad Today) that "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani's talks with Turkish leaders focused on three core files, most notably water, especially since its supply through the Tigris and Euphrates rivers has decreased in recent years by up to 60%."
He added, "Ankara has pledged to double the water supply across the Tigris River for a month, but it will be extended throughout the summer season to overcome the drought crisis, especially since the water storage statistic in the country's dams is worrisome and calls for more supplies."
Al-Atbi pointed out that "the economic agreements and partnership based on the interests between Baghdad and Ankara will address many complications," pointing out that "the doubling of the Tigris River supplies will not be limited to 30 days, and the Sudanese government is seeking to crystallize consensus that contributes to resolving the water file according to mechanisms that prevent the growth of a crisis." Drought in the depths of Iraq.
And the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced yesterday, during a joint press conference with Al-Sudani during his recent visit to Ankara, that his country, “despite these negative circumstances, decided to increase the amount of water flowing from the Tigris River as much as possible for a period of one month” in order to alleviate the distress of Iraq. .
And Al-Sudani wrote in a tweet today on the occasion of World Water Day: "We are working to secure Iraq's shares of its right to water through dialogues and conclusion of agreements, and what was achieved in our visit to neighboring Turkey and the announcement of an increase in the flows of the Tigris waters is an example of the success of the government's directions."
