    Information/Baghdad..
Today, Friday, the Gulf Cooperation Council, with the participation of Egypt, Iraq and Jordan, will hold a meeting in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
It is likely that the consultative meeting of the GCC foreign ministers will discuss the issue of Syria's return to the Arab League, after its membership was suspended in 2012, about a month before the Arab summit in Saudi Arabia, according to informed Arab sources.
According to an Arab diplomatic source, "the decision to return Syria to the Arab League is still ripening, and that there is a positive atmosphere prevailing in the ongoing consultations between several active Arab capitals," according to what was reported by Arab media.
He explained that the number of Arab countries opposing Syria's return to the Arab League seems less than ever.
On Wednesday, the Syrian Foreign Minister, Faisal al-Miqdad, visited the city of Jeddah, in the first official visit to Saudi Arabia since the severance of relations between the two countries at the beginning of the conflict in Syria, and he held a session of talks with the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
After the meeting ended, the two ministers issued a joint statement in which they confirmed that the talks discussed achieving a settlement in Syria for its return to its Arab surroundings, as well as finding a political solution that preserves its unity.
It is noteworthy that Syria's membership in the Arab League was suspended by a majority of 18 countries, following an emergency meeting held in Cairo in November 2011, about 8 months after the outbreak of protests and revolution that later turned into a civil war, which resulted in the killing of thousands and the displacement of millions of Syrians. Ended 25/Y
