    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Wednesday, Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed the government's support for farmers to establish agricultural projects.
And the media office of the Prime Minister stated, in a statement received by (Baghdad Today), that "Al-Sudani announced the start of the marketing season for wheat and barley crops in Wasit Governorate, which arrived this morning, Wednesday."
According to the statement, the Prime Minister handed over a financial instrument due to the first farmer who marketed his crops of wheat and barley. He also praised the efforts of farmers and farmers, and affirmed the government's support for them to establish agricultural projects. He announced the support of full-time agricultural graduates from agricultural and veterinary colleges and agricultural institutes and preparatory schools, by granting them agricultural lands. And financial loans to establish their agricultural projects, in a way that supports agriculture, which along with industry constitute two essential sectors in moving the wheel of the Iraqi economy.

The statement indicated that "Al-Sudani delivered a speech during his visit to the province, stressing that supporting agriculture is not a luxury, but rather we are facing an existential crisis and the crisis of securing food for the people."
Al-Sudani advised, according to the statement, that "the government began its work at the beginning of the agricultural season, and the agricultural plan presented to it was about 4.5 million dunums, in light of the conditions of water scarcity facing the region and Iraq," noting that "the areas of the agricultural plan were distributed on irrigated lands only." And other areas that depend on artesian wells, and after the current rainy season, the agricultural plan exceeded 7.5 million dunums in all governorates.

He noted that "farmers suffer from the problem of timing their supply of fertilizers, due to decisions restricting their import, and a decision was taken by the Council of Ministers to lift this restriction in front of the private sector to import fertilizers, as the security determinants of fertilizer imports were addressed, and we overcame this problem, which was causing an increase in the price of fertilizer." and its effect on the peasants.
And he indicated that "there is an effort by the Ministry of Industry to operate the full production capacity of our factories, whether they are managed by the ministry or operated by investment with the private sector." It is included inside and outside the agricultural plan, because wheat and barley are important strategic crops for food security.
And he added, "We noticed in these areas a clear weakness in the use of the sprinkler irrigation system in the governorate, and of the total of these areas, there are 1445 dunums that use sprinkler irrigation systems. The use of wells is around 6422 dunums, in light of water scarcity, which is the most prominent in the history of Iraq," noting that " Sprinkler irrigation methods are not only a treatment for water scarcity, but the best way to increase productivity.
And he continued: "We want productive agriculture, starting with the use of high-yielding varieties and the use of mechanization and fertilizers, and all these operations provide an economic return parallel to the farmers' efforts, as it is our duty as a government to provide sprinkler irrigation systems, and to grant loans to those who use them."
The Prime Minister continued, "We will support either the outputs or the inputs of the agricultural process. We may raise the price from 850,000 dinars per ton to reach one million dinars, but we want to target the real farmer," calling on "peasants and farmers not to hand over or sell their crops to the office or the merchant. The financial allocations are secured, and every 10 days there is funding for the Ministry of Commerce, and in turn it funds the provinces.
He reassured all peasants and farmers to "follow the marketing procedures to obtain the appropriate price, instead of selling the crop to the merchant under the pretext that the government will be late in paying the dues, which are problems that the farmers faced, but they have been addressed," indicating that he "communicates daily with the Ministry of Commerce in order to secure the allocations." Finance and the flow of exchange, and employees work morning and evening meals for this.
And he stressed that "the government has set in its ministerial platform to support small farmers, by activating the lending fund and granting soft loans, and the fund is headed by the Minister of Agriculture, and its allocations are from the budget or from recovering the amounts of the agricultural initiative, since every farmer or farmer goes towards agricultural projects, whether he is on The level of cabinet decisions or decisions to protect the national product.
He concluded, "It is not possible to accommodate all graduates in government jobs, so we will support full-time agricultural graduates from agricultural and veterinary colleges, institutes and preparatory schools, by allocating land for them and granting them agricultural loans." The true representative of the peasant.
