Today, Thursday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani chaired a meeting on marketing the wheat crop, while he issued three directives.
And the media office of the Prime Minister stated in a statement, that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a al-Sudani chaired today a meeting devoted to discussing procedures for receiving and marketing the wheat crop for the 2023 season, which was attended by a number of ministers and officials of the concerned departments,” noting that “the meeting witnessed a discussion of the executive aspects and a plan to receive And marketing the wheat crop from farmers for the current season, and addressing the most important obstacles that hinder and delay the receiving process.
Al-Sudani directed that "the sums for farmers be allocated within the agricultural plan, and delivered to them without delay and in parallel with receiving crops from them and within a maximum of two weeks." And tampering with locally produced crops, which the state buys from Iraqi farmers at a subsidized price.”
Al-Sudani stressed, "The Ministry of Commerce monitors the process of receiving crops, and ensures that farmers are not exposed to extortion during the inspection processes," directing "to issue a decision from the Council of Ministers to include farmers who are outside the agricultural plan with government support for the purchase of wheat and marketing it to government receiving outlets."
