A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Wafaa Muhammad Karim, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the federal government will not cut the region's share of the financial budget.
Karim said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", that "the federal government will not cut the region's share for the six months of this year, and the matter is related to cutting loans and financial advances that were sent by the government and that are allocated to pay the salaries of employees in the region."
He added, "Baghdad confirmed the region's export of oil until the month of April, and the oil agreement was signed between the two governments on April 4, and therefore the financial differences will be liquidated, and this will be discussed during the visit of the financial control delegation from the region's government and its meetings with officials in the Federal Ministry of Finance."
He pointed out that "the region's financial delegation was scheduled to visit Baghdad, but it was postponed to the coming days, and all financial accounts will be settled during the visit."
Under the Federal General Budget Law, Baghdad must send 775 billion dinars each month to pay the salaries of wage earners in the Kurdistan region.
According to the Federal General Budget Law, the share of the Kurdistan region will be about 16.609 trillion dinars, and the amount that will go to salaries is 9299513000000 dinars, and by dividing this number by 12, which is the number of months of the year, the amount allocated for paying salaries in each month will be 774.959 million dinars, and the Kurdistan region will need to Adding 190 billion dinars per month to this number in order to be able to pay the salaries of wage earners who need 940 billion dinars per month.
So far, the Kurdistan Regional Government has relied on oil revenues to secure salaries, in addition to 400 billion dinars spent by Baghdad and other resources, but the disbursement of salaries lags behind due to the difficulties of collecting non-oil revenues.
And the House of Representatives approved the dawn of the 12th of last month on the largest budget in the history of Iraq, which exceeds 198.91 trillion dinars (about 153 billion dollars).
