[ltr]{Economic: Euphrates News} The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq, on Sunday, directed the Iraqi Bank for Trade and Industry to focus their credit and lending policy towards expanding and diversifying the production base.[/ltr]

[ltr]A statement by his office, a copy of which was received by {Euphrates News} that: "Al-Alaq conducted a field visit to the Iraqi Trade Bank (TBI) and industrial, and met on the sidelines of the visit with the advanced cadre of the two banks, listening to the most prominent problems and challenges facing the two banks."[/ltr]

[ltr]Al-Alaq stressed "the need for banking plans and directives to be consistent with the program and objectives of the government and the Central Bank of Iraq, stressing work to reform and develop the Iraqi banking sector."[/ltr]

[ltr]He also urged the Iraqi Trade Bank (TBI) to "open a permanent and advanced center for conducting commercial transfers to provide its services quickly and accurately that contribute to the implementation of the largest number of such transfers and low wages, which contributes to encouraging the entry of traders into the external transfer system and achieving market stability and the exchange rate."[/ltr]

[ltr]Al-Alaq directed the two banks (Iraqi Trade and Industrial) "to focus their credit and lending policy towards expanding and diversifying the productive base, and supporting the private sector with small and medium enterprise initiatives, because of its impact on economic growth and reducing unemployment among large segments of society."[/ltr]

[ltr]At the end of the meeting, he stressed "the need to raise the level of customer services and invest in modern financial technologies to develop banking services and attract the public to achieve financial inclusion and enhance capabilities to finance various economic activities."[/ltr]
