The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan candidates on the 134th list of the (Union of the People of Nineveh) coalition consider the decision to ban electoral propaganda in refugee camps a correct decision, stressing the necessity of working to return the displaced to their places, instead of increasing psychological pressure on them through electoral campaigns.
The official spokesman for the Federal Ministry of Migration and Displacement said yesterday, Sunday, November 12, 2023, that his ministry decided to “prevent candidates from carrying out any electoral promotion or political activity in the camps.”
Ali Abbas Jahangir added, “The Ministry of Immigration and Displacement threatened to take legal measures if it monitored such activities,” noting that “the Ministry coordinated with the Independent High Electoral Commission to update all data on who is entitled to vote among the displaced families in the Kurdistan Region, in order to preserve their electoral votes and ensure their participation in the electoral process.”

The return of the displaced to their places is one of our priorities.
In this regard, Wissam Salem, candidate No. 18 in the Nineveh People’s Alliance No. 134, said to the official website of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, PUKMEDIA: “The decision of the Ministry of Immigration and Displacement is legal and appropriate, as the displaced are suffering from difficult conditions in the camps, and it cannot be increased.” Psychological pressure on them through election propaganda campaigns.”
Wissam Salem added: “It is the duty of all of us to strive to return the displaced to their areas, instead of keeping them in camps and using them for political and partisan purposes and interests, because the priority now for the displaced is to provide services to them and not distract them with political issues and elections.”

Nineveh People's Union Coalition: The displaced deserve a better life.
The Nineveh People's Union Coalition, No. 134 for the provincial council elections, is working on the return of the displaced from Nineveh Governorate to their original places, by providing them with all the necessary supplies of services and housing and compensating them appropriately.
Laila Avdal Nouri, a candidate for the Nineveh People’s Alliance, said in a previous statement to PUKMEDIA: “We will work to provide housing for the displaced because most of their homes have been destroyed as a result of the war in Nineveh Governorate.”
She added: "We, in the Nineveh People's Alliance, seek to compensate the displaced and help them rebuild their homes or provide them with new housing. Instead of helping them while they are in the camps, we must give them financial aid so that they can live in their city."
After the occupation of Mosul by ISIS terrorists, the citizens of the city were forced to leave their homes and migrate to the Kurdistan Region, and more than 120,000 of them still live in camps in the region. The National Union has striven much in the past to secure the safe return of the displaced to their areas, and now, through its candidates in List 134, to achieve this goal and guarantee the rights of the displaced in accordance with the law.
