    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Friday (November 17, 2023), former member of the Kurdistan Parliament, Ali Hama Salih, identified three main reasons for the decline in oil production in the region, while pointing to the decline in production from the “Taq Taq” field to zero.
Saleh said in a statement received by “Baghdad Today” that “oil production in the Taq Taq field has reached zero point,” noting that “the areas of the Tawki contract have recently produced only (25,980) oil per day, after production reached During the first quarter of this year, it reached (93,880) barrels per day.”
The former MP explained, "This means a decrease in production by (72%), according to a report by the Canadian-Turkish General Energy Company."
He stressed that "the daily oil production in the Taq Taq field during the third quarter of 2023 decreased by (100%), compared to the first quarter of the same year, in which production reached (3 thousand and 610) barrels."
Saleh considered "stopping exports, the departure of foreign oil companies, and the central government's efforts to control the oil file in the region, among the most important reasons for the significant decline in production."
Earlier, Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani said that he was optimistic about the possibility of reaching an agreement with the Kurdistan Regional Government to resume oil exports in the coming days.
Abdul Ghani said in television statements that “the oil production sharing contracts concluded with the Kurdistan Regional Government are unacceptable,” and added that he proposed to the Iraqi Kurdistan government and foreign oil companies operating in the semi-autonomous region to change the current contracts to profit-sharing contracts.
