The Baghdad Police Command confirmed that there were no security checkpoints on the streets, indicating that the special poll was proceeding very smoothly.
Baghdad Al-Rusafa Police Chief, Major General Shaalan Ali Saleh, said, “There are no interruptions or curfews in Baghdad, and the security plan is going smoothly, and no security violations have been recorded,” stressing that “all security centers are secured and the situation is completely under the control of the security forces.”
He pointed out, “dividing the security forces into groups in order to participate in the elections and return to protecting the polling centers,” noting that “private polling centers are witnessing a large turnout by voters, and there are committees that organize the queues in order to ensure the smooth flow of voting.”
He added, "The electoral process is going smoothly and there are no obstacles. The electronic devices are working well and the polling staff are performing their duties perfectly."
