    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Wednesday (January 24, 2024), member of the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee, Amer Al-Fayez, revealed the contents of a plan to create a security umbrella with neighboring countries to avoid the dangers threatening Iraq.
Al-Fayez told "Baghdad Today", "Violating national sovereignty is a red line and a threat to stability, and it leads to civilian casualties, not to mention its repercussions on the country's national security," pointing out that "Baghdad is currently leading important movements with neighboring countries, including Iran and Turkey, from “In order to create security coordination, it is more like an umbrella in order to distance Iraq from the repercussions of conflicts and settling scores.”
He added, "Creating bilateral or comprehensive agreements and understandings through which Baghdad's security coordination can take place at this stage in order to distance Iraq from any conflicts and end the issue of airspace violations that caused many casualties," stressing that "Baghdad is keen on the security of neighboring countries, but at the same time... Al-Waqt calls on others to respect its airspace and its internal security situation.”
He pointed out that "the region is going through exceptional circumstances, and Baghdad must invest its relations in preventing any of its regions from turning into an arena of conflict or confrontations."
Iraq is being subjected to bombing, airspace penetration, and ground military actions by Iran and Turkey, in addition to America, and the government is content with issuing statements of condemnation and complaints to the Security Council, without any change occurring on the ground, despite the security agreements with these countries.
