Independent MP Hadi Al-Salami, on Sunday, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to proceed with reducing the salaries of higher grades, noting that reducing the salaries of higher grades would be by a decision of the Council of Ministers.
Al-Salami said in an interview followed by Mawazine News, that there are parliamentary demands to reduce the salaries of those with special grades and for all positions in the Iraqi state, including the three presidencies and their advisors.
He added that “reducing salaries will achieve social justice in accordance with Article 14 of the Iraqi Constitution, pointing out that” The procedure for reducing salaries for higher grades shall be made by a decision of the Council of Ministers and does not require parliamentary legislation.”
