Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani affirmed, today, Tuesday, Iraq’s keenness to develop relations with the Netherlands.
The Prime Minister's Media Office stated, received by Mawazine News, that "Today, Al-Sudani received the Dutch Foreign Minister, Mrs. Hanke Bruinsloot, and her accompanying delegation, where they discussed relations between the two friendly countries, and the importance of enhancing cooperation at various levels and fields."
He added, "During the meeting, Iraq was keen to develop relations, especially in the economic field, and to benefit from the Dutch experience in the field of agriculture and water, appreciating the Netherlands' position and its efforts in halting the fire and aggression against Gaza, and supporting the relief of the difficult humanitarian conditions of the Palestinian people there."
Al-Sudani pointed out, according to the statement, “the government’s keenness to continue cooperation with the NATO mission in Iraq, whose presidency the Netherlands will assume in the middle of this year, and the necessity of sustaining direct communication with the mission, in conjunction with the start of the dialogue that will lead to ending the tasks of the international coalition’s presence to fight ISIS, and continuing coordination for what The NATO mission provides it to Aoun in the areas of training and advice to our security forces, in light of the clear growth in the capabilities of the Iraqi armed forces, and the defeat of ISIS remnants, which no longer pose a threat to the Iraqi state.”
Al-Sudani touched on the possibility of bilateral cooperation in the field of ports, with the ongoing progress in the completion of the Grand Al-Faw Port, and its relationship with the Strategic Development Road Project, while welcoming the participation of Dutch companies in these projects.
For her part, Minister Bruinsloot expressed, according to the statement, “her country’s government’s aspiration for the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to Amsterdam, which it considers an opportunity to enhance bilateral cooperation and partnership.”
She affirmed "the Netherlands' position in support of ceasefire efforts in Gaza and preventing the spread of conflict in the region, and opening the way for humanitarian aid and relief efforts," expressing "a position in support of the continuation of dialogue between Iraq and the international coalition, ending its presence and tasks, and moving to full bilateral relations with the coalition countries." ".
