Work: We will place national workers in investment companies

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs reported that investment companies were required to fill out a questionnaire to determine the type of work they need, so that they can train national workers in the specializations they need.
Ministry spokesman Najm Al-Aqabi told Al-Sabah: “The Ministry granted two opportunities to foreign workers, after obtaining the approval of the Prime Minister to correct the legal path for violating workers,” noting that “the electronic portal received 12,000 applications, including 9,000 applications from the Ministry of various nationalities.” Especially Syrian nationality as a special status.”
Al-Aqabi added, “The number of foreign workers is very large, despite the fact that Labor Law No. 37 of 2012 requires the employment of 50% of foreign workers and 50% of national workers,” indicating that “the proposal that will be implemented by foreign investment companies contracting with the state will include the imposition of 70% of national workers.” This is matched by 30% of foreign workers.
The spokesman continued, "Foreign workers will not enter the country unless they are skilled after searching the database. Foreign workers will be allowed to enter after inclusion in social security, supported by experience certificates authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the country's embassy of the nationality of the foreign worker."
He explained, "Those who have a license from the Ministry of Labor do not exceed 42,000 foreign workers, and this number is decreasing because the annual license of many of them is not renewed. Also, many foreign workers enter the country in different forms, most notably with religious tourist visas."
He pointed out that "the Ministry has established specific mechanisms to reduce the inflation of unlicensed foreign workers, and we asked investment companies to fill out a questionnaire for the required specializations, so that we can begin training national workers in the Ministry's training centers, especially in the oil industries, in preparation for placing national workers within the workforce of foreign companies in the country."
