    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]The Ministry of Resources has identified sites for new water dams to be implemented by Turkish companies, within the northern and western valleys of the country and Samawah, stressing that the Ministry of Planning has allocated the necessary funds to implement them.[/rtl]
[rtl]Minister Aoun Diab Abdullah said in a statement to the official newspaper, followed by Al-Iqtisad News, that Turkish companies have expressed their readiness to implement water harvesting dam projects, some of which are ready for implementation, and within a plan prepared by the ministry in this regard some time ago, revealing that funds have been allocated for their implementation by the Ministry of Planning.[/rtl]
[rtl]He added that his ministry had referred dams within the aforementioned plan to Turkish companies, including the Masad and Al-Abyad 2 dams in the holy Karbala Governorate, and the Al-Kharz and Al-Muhandis dams in the Samawah desert.[/rtl]
[rtl]Abdullah said that his ministry had identified new sites, the number of which he did not mention, for dams in the Western Desert and the Samawa and Northern Badias, as these are projects adopted by the ministry to confront water scarcity, in addition to a number of others in the Sinjar and Rabia districts within Nineveh Governorate, for which the Ministry of Planning had allocated funds, and in the event that Turkish companies wish to complete them, an agreement will be reached regarding them.[/rtl]
[rtl]He pointed out that there is great government interest in water harvesting dams, with the aim of feeding the groundwater in the country, in addition to supporting the efforts made to settle remote and desert areas, revealing that the number of dams completed in this direction has reached 25 in the eastern side and the southern desert, with capacities starting at 300 thousand m3, and reaching five million m3.[/rtl]
