Member of the Economy, Industry and Trade Committee, MP Yasser Al-Hussaini, revealed today, Wednesday, that investment projects in Iraq have turned from serving the citizen to satiating and fattening the calves of the corrupt, while he pointed out that they are given governmental exceptions to the parties.

Al-Hussaini said in an interview with Sumarya News, "Investment projects in Iraq are not controlled, because they are transferred to companies affiliated with influential parties that are involved in the government and have monopolized them unjustly."

He added, "Most of the companies that are given projects are failing in their work and receive multiple projects with exceptions from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers directly, and others were granted with exceptions according to the budget laws for the year 2023-2024," noting that "all these actions are contrary to the ministerial program that the government calls for."

He continued, "The article that stipulates projects in the budget and the powers of the Council of Ministers that are intended to refer projects to solid and professional companies has been exploited to revive the parties," indicating that "all the investments in the country are a front for parties represented within the government, and the economic scene has shifted from providing the services that the citizen needs to satiating and fattening the calves of the corrupt at the expense of the citizens."
