    Baghdad Today - Erbil
An informed source revealed, today, Monday (September 23, 2024), the reasons for the delay in the visit of the Kurdistan Regional Government delegation to the capital, Baghdad, while indicating the imminent release of salaries for last August.
The source told Baghdad Today, "The Kurdistan Regional Government delegation was scheduled to visit the capital, Baghdad, yesterday, Sunday, but the visit was postponed because the federal government sent part of the funds."
He added, "The Federal Ministry of Finance informed the regional government that the salaries for the month of August will be released in full within two days, and therefore there is no technical problem hindering the transmission."
The source indicated that "an initial payment estimated at 570 billion dinars was sent, but the salaries of the security services, amounting to approximately 430 billion dinars, remain."
An informed source revealed, on Friday, September 20, 2024, a new problem that prevented the Federal Ministry of Finance from sending salaries to employees in the Kurdistan Region for last August .
The source told Baghdad Today, "The problem lies in the demand of the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, to unify the customs tariff between Baghdad and the region, and also to hand over 50% of the revenues and taxes to Kurdistan ."
He added, "The regional government has not yet delivered what is stipulated in the budget, and there is no agreement on customs tariffs, or agreement on the number of official border crossings in Kurdistan. Baghdad is also demanding that the rates of taxes and collections taken from employees, merchants and contractors be determined ."
The source noted that, "until now, Baghdad confirms that it has not received from the region the 50% agreed upon in the budget law, from non-oil revenues ."
The head of the Kurdistan Regional Government's Presidency Council, Omed Sabah, announced yesterday, Thursday, that the regional government will distribute salaries for the months of last August and this September to employees and workers in the public sector in the region if they are funded by the federal government .
He pointed out that "a delegation from the regional government will visit Baghdad next Sunday to follow up on the implementation of the decisions issued by the Iraqi Economic Council, most notably the monthly salaries, and to resolve those issues related to this aspect," stressing that "the Kurdistan Regional Government will distribute the salaries for the months of August and September together if they are funded by the federal government ."
