The Ministry of Construction and Housing announced on Monday a plan to increase housing units across Iraq and address high real estate prices.
Ministry spokesman Nabil Al-Saffar said in a statement to the official agency: "The ministry has a vision that includes increasing housing units in the country to bridge the population gap between the available ones and the demand for them."
He added that "this measure will lead in the coming years to a reduction in housing unit prices across Iraq."
He continued, "Real estate prices have risen in recent years due to an increase in demand for housing units, which has prompted capitalists to exploit this phenomenon."
