Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) -The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, stressed the urgent need for dialogue in resolving the current political crisis in Iraq.
During receiving the US Ambassador to Iraq, Steven Beecroft, Hakim asserted “The necessity to resort to dialogue and avoid escalating the crisis,” calling to “Thank the ministerial commissions tasked to consider the demonstrators’ demands for their praiseworthy efforts in answering these demands,” according to a statement by Hakim’s media office.
“For his part, the US Ambassador praised Hakim’s positive role in encouraging the political sides to get to the dialogue table and adopt constitution as way to settle all the political disputes, emphasizing that “This call is the best solution to address the crisis,” the statement added.
“The meeting also discussed the Iraqi-US bilateral relations and the regional events,” the statement concluded.
