    For its part, said the US pharmaceutical company "Merck", it is the first US company under attack.
    Group-IB, a company specializing in early detection of cyber threats, said: "A virus called Petya is behind the cyber attacks.
    The UK's National Cyber ​​Security Center is investigating how many British companies have been beaten and "trying to gain an understanding of the rapidly moving situation."
    Technical experts, who have seen footage on social platforms, say they carry the hallmarks of Ransomware, which restricts access to its computer system and demands a ransom for the software maker for access to files.
    The digital expert Bogdan Putzato said he had examined samples of the program and was likely to be in line with the Golden Eye program, a ransom program that has been spreading for months.
    The virus spreads quickly, leaving a message with an e-mail address, but many of the messages sent to that address do not correspond to a quick reply.
